Can you get help towards a mortgage repayments for disabled?

Posted under Sell Property Quickly by admin on Thursday 28 May 2009 at 11:42 pm

Hi all, my mother is disabled and i am her full time carer. She is really struggling with the mortgage repayments at the moment and im worried that she might lose her home. The house is currently on the market but at the moment no one is even looking. She gets her disability allowance and pension, she did have savings but they have now gone. she cant sell to these people who buy your home quickly as its well under the market value and she needs to get the best price so she can pay off the mortgage and buy a smaller property without a mortgage, thanks for your time

Yes you can and it goes directly to the Mortgage company so that it can't be spent on anything else.
I know this, because my mother in law cared for my father in law up until when he died and their payments were always paid direct to the company. Land charges etc had to be paid though by her.
Best bet is to call your local council, ask for the housing benefit dept and get some advice from them.
Or you can try age concern who were a great help to my regarding my grandfather.
    Good Luck
