OK, so me and my hubby have been renting off a private landlord since October 2007. Originally it was a flat and then as he was moving house he offered us an opportunity to rent his house in March 2009. We have never had problems before and always pay our rent on time. In fact we get on with him really well and he lives just behind us.

However, when we moved in we had no problems untill we started getting letters through our door from our next door neighbour about being woken up at 2:30 and 5:30am. We tried to resolve it with the neighbour, we speak to her daily and even share mowing the front lawn.

Recently, she threatened us with ‘im going to the owners" and went to our landlords house in tears saying she cant sleep and we keep waking here up. We have a 2 year old daughter, who untill may 2010 was not in a routiene. And she is not quiet when she wakes up for a bottle but we sneak around and make sure shes back to bed as quickly as possible.

However, as the neighbour is best friends with the owners we got issued a section 21 saying we had to leave the property by July 7th without any explaination. We was in tears as we love it here and our landlord said it was because he couldnt afford the mortgage and needed to sell.

After ringing the council it turned out that it was because of anti social behaviour and we had a meeting with the team and landlord and his wife to resolve the situation so we could stay. They found that our house is a new build and vibarations run underneath the floor with a slight shut of the upstairs bedroom door. They concluded that we would stay and that our landlord had 2 fit draft excluders around the door and sort out the lock as the doors were not fitted properly.

Anyway since then we had minimised all noise and our daughter was in bed at 7pm – 8am. Untill this morning a nasty letter was on our doorstep saying that she gets woke up at 5am and shes going to lose her job and has got in touch with the owners again. Thats as our Daughter wakes up for a new bottle and then goes back to sleep as she is currently teething.

We are at the end of our tether. We feel intimidated and like anti social criminals when all we are trying to do is make a better life for our daughter. What can we do and where do we stand? Its so stressful and we just dont need this. Its like our neighbour doesnt understand we hear her and dont complain its a new build its going to happen we cant help we have a 2 year old daughter.

Its like having a spy next door that attention seeks to our landlord to get rid of us

Thanks

Seller is going through a divorce, other half is bankrupt, it’s been 4 months since we’ve been waiting for them to sign the contract as everything from my end has gone through very quickly with no problems.

My solicitor is basically advising me that "these things take time and it’s a complex situation" – all we are waiting for is for the signing to happen but it’s been delayed by the actual end-seller!? To top things off I went past the property today and saw a "For Let" sign next to the "Sold" sign outside the house from a second estate agent.

Any help and advice is much appreciated.
Sorry, to make things worse I’ve incurred nearly £1500 in fees so far of my own money and I really can’t see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Can I reclaim this money from them and is it illegal to advertise a property for let after it has been listed as sold but the contracts not exchanged.

Sorry if this is a bit long, I will try and explain this as best I can…

My partner’s brother is now in his mid 60’s and is a drug addict. He has been in prison for drug dealing both in the UK and abroad on and off serving approx 10-15 years. He doesn’t drug deal any more but is addicted to them. I am not sure what he is taking, but I think it is Coke and Heroine. He hears voices and shakes uncontrollably, all the time, he has no pride in his appearance and has lost most of his teeth and basically looks a mess.

In his prime he was a very handsome man, he had property, fast cars, a beautiful wife and son. According to my partner, he was incredibly arrogant and rather than work for it like the rest of it, he chose a different path by selling drugs and making alot of money quickly. Well he’s lost everything. He lives with his mother who is in her 80’s. He sleeps during the day and every 2-3 days buys more drugs – we are assuming with money he is getting from benefits (he has not worked since his last stint in prison 12 years ago), OR that his mother gives him some of her pension.

He keeps saying he is going to, as he puts, it "turn a corner" and that he is close to giving up, but these are just empty words. My partner confronted him and said, OK if you’re going to give up, give me a time limit, well of course he couldn’t do that.

is it too late? Can we help him? If so, what can we do if he won’t help himself?

Please could I have your advice.

For over 30 years my mum was totally devoted to me and my siblings. For 5 years she had the most heartbreaking illness. She become more and more paralyzed and recently passed away. My half-sister had lasting power of attorney. She said that she was going to give herself money from my mum’s account to "cover her expenses". How can I be sure that she didn’t take too much?

Now mum’s flat is being sold *really* quickly on the cheap. I feel this is perhaps not what mum would have wanted because the property value will almost certainly rise in the future.

I am also worried that the flat will be sold for more than the official price. E.g. sold for £180,000 with the rest of the family being told it was only sold for £120,000. The undeclared amount would presumably be split between the solicitor and my sister and her husband (or maybe my sister doesn’t know – with her husband and the solicitor in secret agreement). I am not saying that this is happening but just that I owe it to mum to make sure it doesn’t happen. But I don’t know how. I feel so powerless. Please could I have your advice?

I am asking this question since I went through 3 losses two years ago come July. I spoke about it on here a while ago, but since have just got on with things.

To speak briefly, as I dont wish to go on, my parents split in July 2008. My Dad then practically made my Mum and I homeless, as he sold our much loved family home of 15 years, and moved down south, so Mum and I had to buy somewhere quickly, even though the old place hadnt sold. My Dad already had another property he bought for my sister when she was at uni, so moved there. Mum and I were living basically on the breadline for a whole year. At the same time, my Grandad was dying of dementia, and every time I went to see him, he got worse, until the time came when I last saw him alive, he was practically dead, just breathing quietly, not opening his eyes. We had to try and look after him, toilet him and feed him etc, as even though he was in a care home, the staff were sometimes rushed off their feet and not always had time.

He died in December 2008 right before Christmas. My Dad didnt bother to show for the funeral, due to a petty argument over finances with my Mum, and I felt quite hurt, as he knew him for years. Since then, I have tried to just get on with things, I am at uni and getting on with life, but I feel absolutely drained of any emotion except for anger. It only takes a flatmate to speak on the phone next door, and I am banging on the walls, telling them to shut up.

I can talk to a friend about this, but he has loads on just now so I feel terrible bombarding him. There is no compassion left, and I said something really uncalled for the other day about a friend of his who was dying, which otherwise I would have passed on my regards.

I am trying to pinpoint when I first started becoming "emotionless", and I am not sure if it is these events, or the fact I have tried to keep in contact with my Dad but he always makes excuses, and blatantly lies about not seeing other women. Havent seen him since last November. I split with my ex last Christmas, and although I ended it, not sure if that could be added to the "loss" list.

So can people really become emotionless through many losses over a period of time? Would just like some answers. I am seeing a psychiatric nurse at the moment who I can talk through things, but would like to hear from others on here. Many thanks

he has got the money to pay as he is moving from his rented flat into a 3 bed house…on his own for what i can gather…do i need his involvement for a legal separation?…i have asked for a divorce nd he is being difficult about it…also havnt got a solicitor atm…i dont reali no wot my rights r on house as my main residence as whether he can force a sale on not…
i have 2 b careful with the situation as he can b very nasty nd he will make my life hell as he will want me 2 suffer…i can afford just 2 pay 4 the house on my own but i just want him out of it…i have offered him if he signs house 2 me in my name i will pay off all debt he mainly owes and that will b end then we can divorce…but he got nasty…i havnt bin rude at all in this nd believe i have been mature nd polite considering
my house will never get what i deserve nd i dnt want 2 do work on it that he will b able 2 claim bk…he left place a mess with all his ‘diy’ ideas…nd it is a state im not just saying it holes everywer nd falling part…also it used 2 b my grandads nd holds lot of sentimental value that i wish 2 keep…lastly i wnt b able 2 afford 2 get anywer…arghhh im sorry it just seems a mess atm

I have a house for sell in southern ireland that is already really well priced (€30,000 less than agent valued) but so far no viewings. House is well decorated. They don’t seem to have property auctions here. Any ideas how I can I sell it quickly? Want to return to UK.
